 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2018-ADEWUYI ROSELINE ADEBIMPE The international day of the girl child is indeed worldwide celebrated. As part of my consistent advocacy for the girl child, I organized a program for secondary school girls in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria to mark the International Day of the Girl Child. The program’s theme was Break out’ igniting her puissance. Five secondary schools were in attendance. the schools are Abadina college, Abadina Grammar, Methodist grammar school, Immanuel high school, Immanuel grammar school. We told our stories to young girls, we shared our narratives, We bared it all to inspire girls out there, we painted the picture of how the journey has been so far, we wove the dreams of the change we wanted to see.    MCW YOUNG LEADERS' PROGRAM-ADEWUYI ROSELINE ADEBIMPE It was a nice experience to be part of the MCW Global Program in New York University anD Champlain College, Burlington, Vermont from July 22 to August 4, 2018. The Young Leaders' Access Program brings together youth from all over the world, united by the goal of creating positive change in their communities. It is a one year program comprised of three components: YLA Retreat, Project Implementation, Alumni Support The YLA launched with the Retreat in late July, held in New York, NY and Burlington, Vermont. It consists of three modules: Modern Leadership, Global Citizenship, and Local Change. During the final phase of the retreat, Young Leaders will create a unique action plan to address an issue in his/her community. It was another feather to the caps of a new movement already generating waves in the U.S.A., the idea of women supporting women. In her latest post on her blog, HerViewFromHome, Heather LeRoss said, ‘I am a woman who champions my friends. I want nothing for them than to be successful, happy, loved, safe, and healthy…’ Interestingly, while speaking at Sworte Talk 9, which held at the Muson Center, Lagos, Toyosi Akerele shared these same views. I would like to do a throwback to the International Day of The Girl Child.  The event themed "The Power of The Adolescent Girl" was aimed at unleashing and igniting the power of the Girl Child. Topics like female leadership; building confidence as a leader, making healthy decisions and lot more were presented by various people. 56 students were in attendance including boys. We understand the need for boys to be part of this so as to further ensure this cause.
