It's estimated that between 114 million women around the world experience female genital circumcision. The ritual is life-threatening, makes child bearing extremely painful and there are traumatic experiences attached to it. The root of this is based on culture. Is it then a crime to be born a female?, must I wallow in limitations because of cultural values? Should my human rights be infringed upon based on my gender. Culture to me should be an element of appreciation. Oh culture, u definitely can't limit me, can u please be enhanced. I do love cultural values at least it makes me to appreciate the fact that variety is the spice of life. I walk, live and act out according to God's purpose for my gender. Let my mind be renewed based on God's word for my gender not on cultural beliefs. Christ is my standard not culture.

TEN DAY COUNTDOWN In present-day Nigeria, the advocacy for the education of the girl-child has gained astronomical audience and enviable attention. Why? No one wants to be labelled unsympathetic towards the girl-child in a bid to realise her dreams, with or without her voice defining who she wants to be.  Cool Boys: Managing anger and aggression. I am excited to celebrate the International Day of the Boy Child, a day dedicated to recognizing the often-overlooked needs of boys. As someone who has worked with both boys and girls, I would say boys also need to be equally cared for. I won't touch much on gender stereotypes yet but this I will say, boys have had their own share of the rotten steak.  Did you know that boys are more likely to be victims of violent crimes and 5 times more predisposed to end up in juvenile detention? They are also more likely to abuse drugs; and in some African countries, the boy child is twenty times more prone to imprisonment in contrast to girls. These stats are unsettling and trash the notion that society is fair on the boy child. The truth is that society is unfair to both boys and girls.
